AV

Did you see the broadcast for the Vote No to AV campaign the other night? What a brilliant bit of television for this type of broadcast. Hopefully it will convince 100% of the population to vote No and stop this farce of an idea. The programme showed AV to be very confusing and will cost the tax payer even more than the current first past the post system.

Budget2

This morning the Daily Mail published a pie chart showing how the UK Government spends OUR money that we pay in taxes and National Insurance. One of the figures that struck me was the £40 billion spent on defence, drastically being reduced by the Strategic Defence Review (more on that in another post). Foreign Aid was not a specific part of the pie chart, it was included in the £77 billion under other things. The Foreign Aid budget is to rise to £32 billion a year of our money being given away to the likes of Zimbabwe, that's right Zimbabwe. Yemen, that's right Yemen and the likes of India, with their space programme and nuclear weopons. You really couldn't make it up could you.

I'd guess that if the British public were given a vote on Foreign Aid I would suspect a good majority would be against the British Government borrowing to give it away to people who don't even like us. But the British people did vote for this, it was after all in all the manifestos of the big three parties. They are as one on this (as with so many things).

Perhaps it is time to look at alternatives to Conservatives, Labour and the Lib Cons, oops sorry Dems. UKIP are an alternative and they are not a one policy party as many people think. Take the time to look at their manifesto and you will be surprised. One nugget from their manifesto, pensions to rise to £156.00 a week now wouldn't that be a good way to treat our senior citizens who've paid into the system all their working lives and are thought so little of by the big three.

Bank Bonuses

Can anybody explain to me that if we the British taxpayer own 84% of RBS and therefore have a controlling interest in the bank, then how come we have no say in stopping the bonuses that are about to be paid. I don't agree with these bonuses and I suspect that neither do the majority of tax payers. The Government is failing us in this as in every other way.

The Luton Five

So these gentlemen were fined £500 each and given a two year suspended sentence for public order offences. The judge said they had the right to protest but not to insult the returning soldiers or the people of Luton. They came out of court with no remorse what so ever saying that British troops should get out of their country. If their country is so good why don't they ....off back there?

The trouble is our spineless government is more liable to ban home coming marches for being a provocative act than to do anything about these people.

Brown survives again.

Members of the Labour party must either be extremely blind, extremely stupid or totally gutless. The proposed secret ballot was probably their last chance to get rid of the unelected, despised leader foisted on the British electorate. They might have stood a small chance of winning with a new leader with GB they stand no chance and they can't seeit or are too busy protecting their jobs. Pity most of them will be out of work after the election, but even that's not true, there are nice cushy jobs in Europe waiting for most of them isn't there.

Winter weather and politics.

So Britain is in the grip of the worst winter weather in years. On the news they interviewed some British pensioners who have to decide whether to eat or put the heating on and yet our illustrious leader Gordon Brown backed up by David Cameron pledges billions of our money to developing countries. I make no apologies for saying charity begins at home. How can you give our money away knowing that British oensions are amongst the worst in the EU.
It strikes me that our leaders are more concerned about how they appear on the world stage than for the electorate. Or are they just hedging their bets for a nice cushy well paid job in Europe once they are chucked out of parliament. Can't go upsetting the Europhiles now can we!!!!!

Electioneering

Day four of the New Year and already I've come to the conclusion that you won't be able to believe a single word any politician tells us.

Wouldn't it be good to have a complete change of leadership from the big two parties, I think the country needs it.

The Foreign Secretary

I see David Milliband was very quick to milk the kudos for the release of Peter Moore from his captors. Then it turns out it had very little if anything to do with the Foreign Office. It seems that the political wing of group holding Peter want to get some of the action in the upcoming Iraq elections so had to divest themselves of this computer expert. Glad he's free and my sincere condolences to the families of the men not coming home.

I think it is shameful that The Foreign Secretary tried to score points over this, the trouble is when you are a Minister in a failed government you have to try everything to look good in the eys of the electorate.

January 1st 2010. Dawn of a New Era

There will be a General Election in the UK this year, probably in May. At last the country will be able to oust its unelected Prime Minister with his penchant for stretching the truth to incredibale limits. Remember his oft repeated statement that Britain is best placed of all the countries to see out the recession. It now transpires that of all the G20 nations, the worlds richest 2o countries, Britain is the only one still in recession. At best this was misleading at worst an outright lie. What chance does the man in the street have?
